I studied classical music for 13 years and obtained 2 music diplomas in piano. Since then I have been teaching a variety of music styles to all ages and levels.

Since my early years, I enjoyed rearranging and reorchestrating existing music pieces, which was not always appreciated in my traditional music school. I found my outlet in gigging at weddings and parties from the age of 15, which I kept a secret from my music teachers.

All apart from one - a wonderful soul who gave me free secret piano lessons in improvisation for an entire year!

Being in a reception, I remember my shock finding out that the other children did not play an instrument, I kept asking them: ‘what do you mean..? Why..? What’s wrong..? So what do you do when you go back home..?’

And of course I cannot forget the stress when after being sent on summer or winter camps by my parents (every year, religiously) I was worrying if there would be a piano for me to play. Making sure there was access to one was much more important to me than what to pack.

Now that I am a grown up (which happened many, many years ago…) finding a piano wherever you go is not a problem. Every restaurant, cafe, or a hotel (yes - an occasional airport too) while on vacation would get a free pianist as long as I am there.

So to sum up, I would say I belong to the keys and the keys belong to me.

I did a course in writing for the media which ignited my passion for music even more.

I enjoy composing immensely, I do not always take it seriously, writing backing tracks to my cats playing, some squirrels frolicking about (music synced with the actions of course) - because you have to have some fun in your life, right..?

I am not sure if it happens to every music writer, but I tend to go through phases when one particular music genre predominates in my creative output. I had a phase of writing pieces for mallet instruments, ‘soppy’ piano music, quirky compositions etc… Now it's a reflective and meditative style, I wonder what comes next. Maybe it will go back to the beginning and I’ll start asking reception children what’s wrong with them and why they don’t learn music, who knows...

I am always excited at the prospect of starting a new project and what gives me the most joy is creating with other musicians.
